The sad thing about not taking art for iGCSEs/A-Levels is that I no longer have a reason to spend long hours on art anymore. Art prep takes a long time, and even though it gets relatively stressful, I enjoyed every moment of it. It forced me to designate time for art, which I find harder to do so now since I have to focus of other subject too. I'll never stop creating art though, I love it too much.
Anyway, here are some of my work I made in year 9 and in my free time (I don't have my exam and exam art prep pieces as they got displayed and I never got them back). I like reminiscing through them sometimes. What would life be without art anyway?
I made this next painting (the image below) on a rainy evening and I was inspired to use my newly purchased paint. I particularly enjoyed using bright and neon coloured paints because I felt like it gave the painting a bit of a statement and sometimes it acts as a reflection of my personality. Apart from that, Andy Warhol was one of my favourite artists, I mean how can he not be right? So I wanted to incorporate pieces of his work into mine.
I was inspired to paint this black and white ink because I was going through a fashion magazine and all the pictures were all really brightly coloured. So, I took those ideas and made it in into a black and white print of A5. I got some inspiration online as well!
We were learning about surrealism and different sketching techniques for this next piece. My art teacher laid out a few things on the table and we had to draw them out using this scribble like technique. On the table was a guitar, coffee mug and cooking pan (if I remember correctly). See if you can spot them in this piece.
This little A3 work in done using colour pencils and it follows the abstract theme. Very simple to be "abstract", but that was my goal for it. Something about it just made me want to keep it instead of scrapping it.
This next piece is far from complete but I decided to keep it like that because it holds several memories to it and I don't intend on touching on them for a while. I was inspired to create music themed manga sketches. They're pretty funny, but I like them.
Here we have a few of my manga sketches I created. I love drawing manga eyes, they're so cute.
I hope you enjoyed my first art related post. There are many more to come as these are only a small portion of my little art portfolio. Hope you're having a lovely day.
With love,
Cheryl
