Music Festivities

I love music festivals. I went to my first music festival recently and it was one of the best things I've ever spent my money on. I went with one of my good friends and we had an absolute blast, one of my favourite weekends by far. Of course the main reason why I loved it so much was because of the music and the ability to really feel the music especially when watching my favourite performers live, but it's also more than that. Feelings of joy and excitement are derived from it, as if everything in you is trying to not squeal in thrill. I also love the part where you're allowed to go crazy with the festival themed clothes and makeup (and not feel absolutely ridiculous).

For the first day, I did a simple bronzed makeup look and added a few gemstones above my brows and some glitter on my cheek. I wore a patterned croptop with a pair of highwaisted white shorts. I carried a little black crossbody bag with gold stud details on the side as well. For my shoes, I wore black flats (they were super comfortable, don't worry) and had a silver reflective sunglasses on top of my head, in my hair. Around my waist tied a Pull & Bear sweater which was grey and black with colourful wordings on the back and cute little badges around. When it got chilly at night, I would toss it on.

For day two of the music festival madness, I wore a black flowy top which was kind of off shoulder but had a ribbon to tie it on my shoulder and it was from Topshop. I paired that with some black and white striped shorts, carrying the same purse and wearing the same sweater and shoes as the first day. For my makeup, I went all out with a slick black and lilac/turquoise winged liner, along with some shimmery glitter and sequins on my cheeks. I added the gemstones on the side of my face as well. I wore a neutral lip colour which was more browny toned called "Nice n Spicy" by M.A.C

Because I wanted to dance around (obviously), I didn't want to lug around too much. I kept only a few essentials in my little bag; a raincoat compressed into a little ball, a power bank, some money, my lip liner, and my phone and sunglasses were on me most of the time. Along with that, I had a few photobooth photos of me and my friend as there was a little photobooth at the topshop stall. It was lovely.

I also realised that people in music festivals are so lovely, with the exception of the pushy ones who try to get to the front of the stage but that's okay, they're just as excited as anyone else. I loved looking around the massive field and taking everything in, observing everyone around, feeling so happy and swell to be there. I enjoyed the music so much and danced my heart out. Got to watch some my favourite artists that I absolutely adore live and the weather was lovely, the perfect festival weather, really. The 1975 and Angus and Julia Stone definitely stole my heart, though.

The whole experience was one I wouldn't trade for the world. I felt all kinds of emotions and thinking about it never fails to tickle a little smile at the corner of my lower cheek. I feel like I learnt a lot and felt a lot during my short time there. I was nervous at first that my anxiety of crowds would get the better of me but really, once I started to not care and just enjoy the music and felt the bass and beat, it felt as if I was invincible. As I felt the pounding of the beats in my chest, I knew it was going to be a great night.

If you enjoy music and dancing and great company, I highly suggest you add on to your bucket list to attend a music festival at least once in your life with the people who mean most to you. Let go and live in the moment, I promise you won't regret it.

With love,
Cheryl
