Animal Art, Music, Laughs & Good Food

Weekends keep us going since it acts as a little goal for us. A little feeling of "hey I actually made it through the week" is derived from it and usually we have the privilege to sculpt our weekends into what we want rather than what we must. I had a little long weekend and to my surprise, it was a lovely weekend indeed.

I kicked off Saturday by having breakfast with my dad at a little Breakfast Shop in one of the lanes we often go to and I had my usual cheese and tomatoes on toast along with a latte. I was oddly craving to wear a white shirt and therefore I did; I paired a pair of highwaisted shorts with a white button up shirt that I had rolled the sleeves to.

After breakfast, we payed a visit to this animal conservatory event that was absolutely admirable! It showcased many beautiful artwork of endangered animals that were done by several artists and were collected throughout the years. The art were all unique and in a way presented the artists in their own way. Not only that but they had sculptures and model pieces done; very interesting. There were also little gifts and little figurines we could paint and design on. Though I wasn't there for long, I enjoyed it nevertheless as I thoroughly enjoyed the idea of combining art with promoting such a good cause! Here are some of the artwork, there were even paintings of hornbills are they are in fact endangered and coincidentally, I saw them a week ago when I was at the beach (in my last blogpost)!

I then spent the afternoon finishing some business notes and tasks I had to finish. In the evening, we went out for a "Short & Sweet" show that my brother and friends performed in. Not much I can say apart from how brilliant it was! I clapped way to hard and cheered far too loudly. I was supporting three different acts; one of which were my brother and his band, another was my school friends and last but not least my favourite teacher. I went with my parents and cousin brother and sister.

Once all the acts were done and after the curtain call, we got to interact with all the performers for a while as it was the closing night and therefore votes had to be counted and such. Excitement rushed through my veins as I immediately bounced off my seat to go hug everyone and congratulate them. I was in such a huggy mood as I was in absolute awe and felt like a proud grandma, haha. (I even played the part of hugging way too tight, I think!) We took some photos, the background music was rather clubby and the lighting was rather rubbish (but it was a good laugh and I managed to get some lovely photographs) and I couldn't stop telling everyone how proud of I was of them because they honestly smashed it! I then gave flowers to my favourite teacher and my brother.

The night was even better as I saw an old teacher, who said she couldn't recognise me because I got prettier (aw). I even got a photo with the creative director and he was honestly so lovely, I admire him passion and work a lot.

The next day, we started the day rather late as were all exhausted from a late night. We went for a buffet lunch that we had planned for a while (and it was rather timely as it was kind of like a congratulatory meal) and let me tell you, the food was scrumptious. I tried my hardest to eat as slowly as possible in hopes to be able to eat more. It was a madhatter themed party and the staff really played the part, there was a clown who was making balloon hats and I was crowed unexpectedly, haha. A magician also performed a super cool fork trick and boy, it was COOL.

A live band was playing in the background and they were playing some jazzy tunes of hit songs. I had fun harmonising under my breath, haha. Also, the food was scrumptious and don't even get me started on the deserts!

The next day was a public holiday (thankfully) and it was a well worth day as well. I fell asleep at about 1 in the morning and woke up at 7 to turn out the lights and set my alarm for 9 o'clock, I also went to pee. Typical. It was such a lovely morning; the faint sound of raindrops on my window sill made it feel all cozy and snuggy.

I then got up and ready once my alarm went off to "A Change Of Heart" by the 1975 and I wore a long sleeved black and white croptop with the sleeves rolled up paired with a high waisted wait shorts. I headed out at 11 and met up with my friends at Nandos at quater past 11. Good conversation and good food is all I have to say! We even went to Baskin Robbins afterwards to share a ice cream sundae with the money we had left. We then walked around the mall and popped by a jewellery store to buy matching necklaces; it was really cute, haha. At about 1:30 we went our seperate ways to find our parents to go home. I bumped into another friend of mine who was with his dad who met up with my friend's parents whilst we were having lunch. That coincidence made me giggle a little.

The weekend was a nice little "post summer break" treat, if you get what I mean. Try and plan things you enjoy and could look forward to on weekends, it really does keep you going when weekdays just aren't going swell. Here's to many more weekends like this one.

With love,

Cheryl
