Bangkok

Excitement gushed my body as I was lucky enough to get way for a few days, from December 17th to December 20th in 2016. I was really stressed for mock exams but I was glad I got a small break, regardless of the past year papers I brought along to complete (at least I succeeded in completing them). Bangkok was wonderful, as if I was aroused by the sound of buzzing traffic and city lights. The itinerary was simple; shop, eat, sleep, repeat.

Our first stop after arriving was Terminal 21, where my eyes glistened in amazement. I felt as if I was in 21 different countries altogether. The creativity in that mall was phenomenal, with a different themed country for each floor; from San Fransisco to London to Paris. Ironically, I forgot I was even in Bangkok. I gasped when the first thing I noticed was Brandy Melville; my very first visit there and I managed to pick up some cute clothes! The shopping was super fun, I managed to find the lovelies rose gold ring with beautiful flowery crystal designs, at a relatively reasonable price. Apart from that, my mum and I kept a careful eye for any potential prom dresses that may embark our way. Moreover, we didn't get enough of that mall that we had to visit it for a second time during the trip!

For dinner on the first night, we went to "Never Ending Summer", which had the spiciest but delicious Thai food, with spices that intertwine perfectly in your mouth. Comfort flooded the atmosphere which was surprisingly refreshing.

On our second day, we started the day bright and early with the breakfast at the hotel. I have a tendency of falling in love with the randomess things, in this case was the oats in the breakfast buffet. It was simple yet scrumptious; with honey coated against it and a mixture of different chopped fruits. I was so obsessed with it that I even recreated the recipe when I got home and had it everyday for almost 4 months!

After breakfast, we ventured to Chatuchak Weekend Market. Though it was very crowded, a cheeky grin never left my face the entire trip! A wide selection of things such as clothes, bags, badges were available. I managed to get a few t-shirts of my favourite musicians, some badges and even miniature plant decorations - all a cheap price!

For dinner, we went to a bungalow turned into a restaurant called "Issaya Siamese Club"! The food was divine, though the lighting was too dark to do past papers in, haha! Instead, good conversations were made... and heard (by all the young couples that surrounded us).

On our last full day, we practically went mall hopping. From a wholesale mall, to a classy mall called "Paragon" back to Terminal 21! We stopped by the ever so familiar, Greyhound, for lunch/tea.

For dinner, we had unique chinese food, which was my dad's friend's place. We then headed back to the hotel and packed up, followed by cozying up to the TV with only Thai movies.

On our last day, we went to massage and had lunch at the restaurant. Italian food; pizzas and pastas... with very friendly waiter!

Though I was sad to leave and head back to reality, I was also eternally grateful. I think this feeling tends to reciprocate every time I get the opportunity to travel, especially with the people who mean most to me. That flight back in particular had be amazed, especially departing with a wondrous view of the city lights at night (even making me slightly teary especially since my earphones blasted on "The City" by The 1975).

Not long after we came back was the most magical time of the year... Christmas! We didn't do anything extravagant. Just a simple meal with the family, which was more than I could ask for.

With love,

Cheryl
